Muay Siam Club, created by Muay Siam journalist DtuaLek Lampang, has been documenting women’s Muay Thai by publishing fight news, fighter profiles and interviews for many years.
As well as writing the women’s Muay Thai news in the Muay Siam newspaper, Dtualek created an extensive online archive by uploading his work to Meeboard, an online messageboard that has since been shut down. His articles there included valuable information about the landscape of women’s Muay Thai, including when each fighter started fighting, how many fights they’d had, how much they were paid for the first fight, and the highest purse they’d ever received. Muay Siam Club Archives is a project by Under the Ropes to retrieve the lost web archives and republish them with English translation to preserve women’s Muay Thai history, and make it accessible to an international audience.
At the time of launch, 70 fighter profiles have been uploaded. This is an ongoing project, with hundreds more to be added. See the profiles and find more information about the Muay Siam Club Archives project through the link below.
